In Google's top search list, only two Indian actresses are listed – Katrina Kaif at number six and Namitha at number 9.
She beat down her competitors like Shriya Saran, Trisha and Nayanthara who are also quite popular in the south, but apparently don't expose as much as Namitha does on and off screen.
Namitha Kapoor , a popular South Indian Actress , was born on May 10 , 1984 in Surat, India.
She started out by participating in the Femina Miss India Contest. She was crowned Miss Surat in 2000 and came fourth in the Miss India contest during the year 2001 along with Trisha Krishnan and Celine Jaitley, who was crowned Miss India Universe.
She has acted in Telugu,Tamil,Kannada,Hindi & Malayalam films. She made her debut in the Telugu film Sontham.
Namitha became famous after the Tamil film Engal Anna opposite Vijayakanth.
Her only Bollywood film till date has been an adult comedy Love Ke Chakkar Mein (2006), also starring Rishi Kapoor.
Namita lives in Chennai now, with over 30 films in her credit, she has over 2500 fan clubs and is doing lots of charity work.
Namitha has a soft corner for HIV effected kids and often Aids them in Pondecherry Communicable Disease center.
Namita besides her films has also gained fame in small screen programme Manada Mailada in Kalignar TV.
Namitha apparently wasn't always on the heavier side but put on weight for her roles down south because the audiences there prefer voluptuous heroines.
Her biggest hit in Tamil has been Billa (2008) with Ajith, a remake of SRK's Don where she played the role of Eesha Koppikhar and had more screen space than Eesha had in Don.
Instead of acting opposite heroes of her age, the actress is known to act with much older heroes like Venkatesh, Vijaykanth, Sarath Kumar, Ravi Chandran, Parthiban and Mammootty.
